Swedish power metal legends HAMMERFALL delivered one of the festival season's most memorable moments at the 2026 Sweden Rock Festival in Sölvesborg, inviting approximately 60 to 70 fans onstage to join them for "Hail To The King," the lead single from their forthcoming studio album "Avenge The Fallen." The mass singalong became an immediate highlight of the festival weekend, capturing the communal spirit that has made HAMMERFALL one of Europe's most beloved and enduring metal acts for nearly three decades.

"Hail To The King" is the kind of immovable power metal anthem that demands exactly this kind of participatory response: enormous melodic hooks, propulsive riffing, and a chorus built for thousands of voices. Guitarist Oscar Dronjak composed the track while on tour in the United States supporting HELLOWEEN, finishing it on the tour bus after the Los Angeles show — a detail that speaks to the kind of inspired, road-born creativity that has powered HAMMERFALL's best work.

Seeing the track performed with 60 fans crowding around vocalist Joacim Cans was a testament to HAMMERFALL's extraordinary connection with their audience. Few bands command the kind of devotion that fills festival stages with willing participants — and for HAMMERFALL, who have cultivated an almost tribal loyalty since their formation in Gothenburg in 1993, it is entirely earned.

The Sweden Rock appearance also served as a preview of "Avenge The Fallen," which arrives August 9, 2026 via Nuclear Blast Records. Dronjak has described the album as "one of our strongest in recent years," and the creative energy behind it is apparent: the recording sessions were marked by intense collaborative chemistry between the full band, with drummer David Wallin and producer Fredrik Nordström (IN FLAMES, DIMMU BORGIR, SOILWORK) pushing the band to meet and exceed the energy they found in the room.

Nordström's production fingerprint is one of the most recognisable in European metal, and his work with HAMMERFALL has historically yielded some of the band's finest moments. "Avenge The Fallen" will be the band's follow-up to Hammer of Dawn (2022) and represents the latest chapter in one of power metal's most consistent and celebrated runs of albums.

Vocalist Joacim Cans — whose soaring tenor has been central to HAMMERFALL's identity since day one — reportedly delivered exceptional vocal contributions on the new record, with Dronjak singling out Cans' melodies and lyrics as particular highlights.

With "Avenge The Fallen" imminent and Sweden Rock 2026 already generating extraordinary memories, HAMMERFALL enter the second half of 2026 with serious momentum and a clear sense of purpose. August 9 is the date to mark.
