CARPATHIAN FOREST are a Norwegian black metal band from Sandnes, formed in 1992. One of the most uncompromising and deliberately offensive acts in Norwegian black metal, they combine raw second-wave black metal with BDSM imagery, nihilism, misanthropy, and dark humour in a manner designed to shock and polarize. Releasing material independently, they have built a cult following that appreciates their gleeful refusal to compromise or moderate. CARPATHIAN FOREST remain active, perversely committed to their confrontational vision.
