EPICA are a Dutch symphonic metal band from Reuver, formed in 2003 by guitarist Mark Jansen — formerly of AFTER FOREVER. With soprano vocalist Simone Simons at the centre, they have become one of the most internationally successful symphonic metal bands in the world, delivering elaborate, double-bass-driven metal with deep philosophical, political, and spiritual lyrical content. Signed to Nuclear Blast, their consistently strong album run and global tours have placed them firmly at the top of the symphonic metal genre. EPICA remain one of heavy metal's most ambitious and beloved acts.
