ICED EARTH

ICED EARTH are an American power/thrash metal band from Tampa, Florida, founded in 1988 by guitarist Jon Schaffer. Driven by Schaffer's aggressive, double-bass-driven riff approach and a revolving cast of powerful vocalists — notably Matt Barlow and Stu Block — they crafted landmark albums of conceptual heavy metal exploring horror, fantasy, literature, mythology, and American history. Their "Something Wicked" trilogy and "Framing Armageddon"/"Something Wicked Part 2" rank among American power metal's finest moments. The band is currently on hold following legal events involving Schaffer.
