IMMORTAL are a Norwegian black metal band from Os and Bergen, formed in 1990 by guitarist Abbath and guitarist Demonaz. Forging a uniquely fantastical black metal world — the icy realm of Blashyrkh — through hypnotic tremolo riffs, blast beats, and corpse-paint theatrics, they created some of the most enduring and atmospheric recordings in black metal history. Albums like "Pure Holocaust", "Battles in the North", and "At the Heart of Winter" are foundational. After years of internal conflict and a split, both Abbath and Demonaz have continued active careers. Signed to Nuclear Blast, IMMORTAL recently reunited.
