IMPURE WILHELMINA

Post Rock/Alternative Rock
Geneva, 🇨🇭Switzerland Formed in 1996

IMPURE WILHELMINA is a dark rock/post-metal band from Geneva, Switzerland, founded in 1996 by guitarist and vocalist Michael Schindl. Blending post rock, progressive metal and gothic atmosphere, the band built its name in the early 2000s with albums I Can't Believe I was Born in July (2003) and L'amour, la mort, l'enfance perdue (2005), backed by extensive European touring.

After signing to Season of Mist in 2015, IMPURE WILHELMINA released Black Honey (2014), Radiation (2017) and Antidote (2021) to wide critical acclaim. Their dense, melodic and deeply melancholic sound — driven by introspective, poetic lyrics — earned the band a loyal following across Europe, with shared stages alongside Gojira, Baroness, Amenra, Sólstafir and Crippled Black Phoenix.

The current lineup — Schindl with Sébastien Dutruel (bass), Mario Togni (drums) and new guitarist Edouard Nicod — is completing Le sanglot (2026), their first entirely French-language record.
