ION is an American black metal and ambient project from San Francisco, formed in 2011. Rooted in sorrow, darkness, and despair, they practice an atmospheric strand of black metal that foregrounds emotional desolation over aggression. Releasing independently, ION represent the American atmospheric black metal underground's capacity for genuine introspective depth. The project remains active.
