MADDER MORTEM are a Norwegian atmospheric/progressive metal band from Oslo, formed in 1997. One of Norway's most genuinely unique and criminally underrated bands, they evolved from intense atmospheric doom toward a distinctive progressive metal sound driven by Agnete Kirkevaag's extraordinary vocal performances and richly introspective, emotionally direct songwriting. Signed to Dark Essence Records, their body of work — particularly "Eight Ways" and "Desiderata" — stands as some of the most emotionally powerful music Norway has produced. MADDER MORTEM remain active.
