MASSACRA were a French death/thrash metal band from Franconville, active from 1986 to 1997. Pioneers of French extreme metal, their early albums — particularly "Final Holocaust" — are regarded as classics of the European death/thrash crossover. With themes of death, genocide, killing, violence, and destruction delivered through technically accomplished, ferocious compositions, they were ahead of their time. They split up in 1997 on Rough Trade Records, leaving behind a revered legacy.
