NILE are an American brutal/technical death metal band from Greenville, South Carolina, formed in 1993. One of the most uniquely thematic acts in all of extreme metal, guitarist Karl Sanders has devoted their entire catalogue to Ancient Egyptian mythology, history, death rituals, and Lovecraftian horror, rendered through compositions of ferocious technical complexity. Signed to Napalm Records, albums like "Amongst the Catacombs of Nephren-Ka", "Black Seeds of Vengeance", and "Annihilation of the Wicked" are essential extreme metal. NILE remain active.
