SAXON are a British NWOBHM and heavy metal band from Barnsley, formed in 1978. One of the defining acts of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, their classic albums — "Wheels of Steel", "Strong Arm of the Law", "Denim and Leather" — are essential documents of British metal at its most anthemic. After navigating the wilderness years of the late 1980s and early 1990s, they returned to form and have been on an extraordinary creative run under the Silver Lining Music banner. SAXON remain one of the most beloved British metal institutions.
