Anneke van Giersbergen, frontwoman of THE GATHERING, posted a message on the band's website about the first week of studio work on their upcoming album. The text of her message contains the vocalist's amazed reflections on the unpredictability of Dutch weather, which stunned everyone with an unprecedented snowstorm — though this had no effect on the recording sessions. The only casualties were the band's personal chef, who got stuck in traffic caused by snowdrifts, and the church where the recording is taking place, which was buried in snow up to its roof. Fortunately, the director filming documentary footage of the recording sessions turned out to be a wonderful cook and kept the musicians from starving.
