[AMATORY] Working on New Material

An interview with [AMATORY] guitarist Alexander [ALEX] Pavlov — compiled from answers to fan questions submitted through an interactive VKontakte project — has revealed that the musicians are currently working on a new tour single that will "at the very least surprise everyone." Here are some excerpts from the interview:

"At the moment we have about six or seven new songs in the works, plus a pile of material that hasn't been played yet. Right now we're preparing a special tour single that will at the very least surprise everyone and set a new stage and benchmark in [AMATORY]'s creative output!"

[ALEX] also took a rather firm stance on how part of the audience perceived the band's work in light of their most recent album, "VII": "This is our heaviest, most technical, and best-sounding album. The only thing I'm unhappy about is how it was positioned and presented to people — namely, a ballad ('Breathe with Me') suddenly became [AMATORY]'s calling card, and singing ballads is not what we do best. Of course, you could call it an attempt to broaden the audience with a radio single, hoping that longtime fans would understand the move, that they'd carefully listen to the entire album with tracks like 'Time Invented Death,' 'No One Will Stop Us,' 'My Revenge,' 'You Are All Deprived of Your Lives,' 'New Hero' — listen and understand that the band is heavier than ever and will blow everyone away. That's exactly where, in my opinion, the split happened. We remain true to our musical ideals, no matter what anyone says!"

The new [AMATORY] tour, titled "Sick & Loud," kicks off on October 16 in saint petersburg and, in addition to a major moscow show on October 24 at CDK MAI, will include around fifty concerts across cities in russia and CIS countries. The full schedule for the tour — for which [AMATORY] promise to prepare the heaviest setlist in the band's history — can be found on the official website.

Also, at the end of September, the band members took part in the "Music moscow 2009" exhibition; a somewhat ironic video account of one day with [AMATORY] in the capital has been posted online.
