Japanese metalcore band CRYSTAL LAKE have released "The Weight of Sound" via Century Media Records, their first album in eight years and the first with vocalist John Robert C, formerly of THE LAST TEN SECONDS OF LIFE. The departure of longtime frontman Ryo Kinoshita had left fans uncertain about the band's future, but the Tokyo-based outfit channeled that transition into a creative rebirth that pushes their sound into heavier and more experimental territory.

The 11-track record features an impressive roster of guest appearances: Jesse Leach of KILLSWITCH ENGAGE lends his iconic vocals to a standout collaboration, while David Simonich of SIGNS OF THE SWARM, Taylor Barber of SEVEN HOURS AFTER VIOLET, and Karl Schubach of MISERY SIGNALS each contribute distinctive performances that complement the album's diverse sonic palette. Mixed and mastered by Jeff Dune, the in-demand producer behind recent releases from KNOCKED LOOSE and CURRENTS, "The Weight of Sound" delivers a punishing yet dynamic listening experience.

CRYSTAL LAKE formed in 2002 and steadily built an international following through relentless touring and critically acclaimed albums like "Helix" and "The Voyages." Their signing to Century Media in 2024 gave them a major-label platform that matches their ambition. The band have already announced a headline tour of Japan for spring 2026, with European and North American dates expected to follow.

The album marks a forceful return for one of Japan's heaviest exports, proving that CRYSTAL LAKE remain a vital force in modern metalcore despite the lineup upheaval. Early fan reactions highlight the chemistry between John Robert C's versatile delivery and the band's razor-sharp instrumentation.
