MASTERPLAN have premiered the music video for "Chase The Light," the lead single from their upcoming album "Metalmorphosis," due May 22 via Frontiers Music Srl. The track marks the band's first new song in over a decade since 2013's "Novum Initium," and it makes clear that the hiatus has done nothing to dull their edge. Guitarist Roland Grapow, best known for his tenure with HELLOWEEN during their golden era of the late 1980s and 1990s, described "Chase The Light" as "a dark and aggressive track about fear, control, and a world that feeds on pain. It shows how power rises while compassion fades." The single showcases a heavier, more urgent direction that suggests "Metalmorphosis" will be the band's most intense outing yet.

The music video, directed by bassist Rick Bouwman, presents a moody, atmospheric visual treatment that matches the song's darker tone — a marked departure from the more uplifting power metal anthems that defined MASTERPLAN's early catalog. The clip features dramatic lighting, shadowy corridors, and narrative imagery that underscores the lyrical themes of societal decay and the erosion of empathy in the modern world. The production values are notably higher than the band's previous video efforts, signaling serious investment in this comeback.

MASTERPLAN originally formed in 2001 when Grapow and drummer Uli Kusch left HELLOWEEN under acrimonious circumstances following their dismissal from the legendary German power metal act. With the mighty vocalist Jorn Lande initially at the helm, the band carved out a niche in European power metal with albums like their self-titled debut and "Aeronautics." Although lineup changes and extended breaks slowed their momentum considerably, the core of Grapow's songwriting vision — melodic yet heavy, technically proficient yet emotionally resonant — has remained intact throughout the years.

"Metalmorphosis" promises to capture a band that has been transformed by time yet remains true to its melodic metal roots. With Frontiers Music Srl behind the release and a power metal landscape that has only grown more vibrant in their absence thanks to the continued success of acts like POWERWOLF, BEAST IN BLACK, and HELLOWEEN themselves, MASTERPLAN are positioned for a significant comeback. Pre-orders for the album are available now, and additional singles are expected in the lead-up to the May release date. European festival appearances are also being rumored for the summer season.
