MEGADETH have announced "Let There Be Shred: The Ultimate Megadeth Immersive Listening Event," an exclusive one-day experience set for Saturday, January 17 at the studios in La Vergne, Tennessee where the band's self-titled seventeenth and final album was recorded. The event promises fans an unprecedented, in-depth look at the music, stories, and legacy of one of thrash metal's Big Four — a fitting send-off before the album's January 23 street date.

The self-titled record, produced by Dave Mustaine and Chris Rakestraw, features ten tracks led by singles "Tipping Point," "I Don't Care," "Let There Be Shred," and "Puppet Parade." It marks the first MEGADETH album with Finnish guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari, who replaced Kiko Loureiro, and the first since 2009's "Endgame" to feature bassist James LoMenzo alongside drummer Dirk Verbeuren. The album's cover art depicts a burning Vic Rattlehead, the band's iconic mascot, in a powerful visual metaphor for the end of an era.

Mustaine, who survived throat cancer in 2019 and has spoken openly about the physical toll of decades of touring, revealed in a Metal Hammer cover story that this would be MEGADETH's final studio release. "This is going to be a long tour, and at the end of it, I want some time to live life," the guitarist and vocalist stated, signaling that the farewell tour will be extensive but definitive.

The listening event in Tennessee will give attendees an exclusive first listen to the full album in the exact space where it was created, with behind-the-scenes insights into the recording process. MEGADETH will launch their farewell touring activities with a Canadian run alongside ANTHRAX and EXODUS in February and March, followed by support slots on IRON MAIDEN's "Run for Your Lives" North American tour. The self-titled album would go on to debut at number one on the Billboard 200 with 73,000 units — the band's first chart-topper in their four-decade career.
