MEGADETH Tease Second Single "Puppet Parade" from Final Album

MEGADETH have teased "Puppet Parade," the second single from their self-titled final album due January 23, and early descriptions suggest the track channels the raw, unhinged thrash energy of the band's 1985 debut "Killing Is My Business...And Business Is Good!" in a way that will delight longtime fans who have longed for a return to that savage ferocity.

Dave Mustaine, who has been carefully curating the narrative around MEGADETH's farewell, has described the ten-track album as the definitive statement of who the band is and what they stand for. Produced alongside Chris Rakestraw at a studio in La Vergne, Tennessee, the record features the current lineup of Mustaine, Finnish guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari — who joined in 2023 as a replacement for Kiko Loureiro — bassist James LoMenzo, making his first album appearance since 2009's "Endgame," and drummer Dirk Verbeuren.

The lead single "Tipping Point" has already made waves at rock radio, but "Puppet Parade" is said to be a rawer, more abrasive affair that recalls the reckless speed and technical fury of early MEGADETH. The song's title suggests thematic continuity with the band's long tradition of politically charged lyrics, evoking images of manipulation and puppet governments.

MEGADETH are also planning an immersive listening event this Saturday, January 17, at the studio in Tennessee where the album was recorded, giving fans an exclusive first listen. The event, dubbed "Let There Be Shred," will include meet-and-greets and behind-the-scenes content. With pre-order numbers already exceeding expectations, the self-titled farewell record is on track to become one of the biggest metal releases of early 2026. The album also features a bonus cover of METALLICA's "Ride the Lightning," a song Mustaine co-wrote before his departure from the band in 1983, adding a layer of poetic closure to the farewell. For a band that has sold over fifty million records worldwide and influenced countless thrash and metal acts, the final chapter promises to be as intense and uncompromising as the first.
