MOTIONLESS IN WHITE's highly anticipated new single "Afraid of the Dark" drops tomorrow, January 28, via Roadrunner Records. The track is the band's first new music since 2022's "Scoring the End of the World" and launches the cycle for their seventh studio album, marking one of the longest gaps between releases in the Scranton, Pennsylvania band's career. Frontman Chris Cerulli has described the song as a tribute to MIW's entire lifespan, packed with references spanning back to their 2009 EP "When Love Met Destruction."

An accompanying music video will premiere simultaneously on the band's YouTube channel, which has grown to become one of the largest in modern metalcore and gothic metal. The visual component has always been central to MOTIONLESS IN WHITE's artistic identity, with their elaborate stage costumes, horror-influenced aesthetics, and cinematic music videos setting them apart from their peers in the heavy music landscape.

The "Afraid of the Dark" European tour launches in February, with dates spanning across the UK and mainland Europe through March. The run will serve as the first opportunity for fans to hear the new material performed live, and anticipation is running exceptionally high given the extended hiatus. Several dates have already sold out, reflecting the pent-up demand for new MOTIONLESS IN WHITE content.

Cerulli has hinted in recent interviews that the forthcoming seventh album represents a significant evolution for the band, incorporating electronic and industrial elements more prominently than ever before while maintaining the heavy foundation that their fanbase expects. The singer has also spoken about the personal nature of the lyrics, describing the record as the most vulnerable and honest work the band has produced. With "Afraid of the Dark" serving as the gateway into this new era, expectations among fans and industry observers alike are substantial.
