SEVENDUST Reveal Details on "One," Their Most Personal Album Yet

SEVENDUST have shared additional details about their fifteenth studio album "One," confirmed for a May 1 release, and the Atlanta metal veterans are making it clear that this record represents a creative turning point for the band. Guitarist John Connolly says the group stripped away any pretense during the writing sessions, focusing entirely on raw emotion and pure energy rather than chasing trends or trying to recapture past glories.

The album was tracked at a brisk pace over just three weeks, with the band capturing performances live in the studio to preserve the natural chemistry that has defined their sound since 1994. Vocalist Lajon Witherspoon reportedly delivered some of the most impassioned performances of his career, channeling deeply personal experiences into lyrics that explore themes of resilience, loss, and self-discovery. Connolly has described the songwriting process as "therapeutic" and says that "One" captures the very essence of what SEVENDUST are in 2026.

A lead single, "Is This the Real You," is expected within the next two weeks and is said to showcase a heavier, more aggressive side of the band while maintaining the melodic hooks that have always been their signature. The album was produced by Michael "Elvis" Baskette, who previously helmed records for ALTER BRIDGE and TREMONTI, bringing a muscular, modern production aesthetic to the sessions.

SEVENDUST are currently performing across the UK during their first visit in eight years, with shows drawing enthusiastic responses from British fans who have waited years to see the band on their shores. The spring US headline tour, kicking off April 16 in Carterville, Illinois, with support from ATREYU, FIRE FROM THE GODS, and AMERICAN ADRENALINE, will serve as the primary vehicle for the album launch. The band has also confirmed festival appearances throughout the summer, ensuring maximum exposure for what they consider their defining record.
