German/American heavy metal legends ACCEPT have revealed details of their upcoming 50th-anniversary album, an ambitious project that will feature newly re-recorded versions of classic songs alongside rare tracks and high-profile guest appearances. The album celebrates five decades of a band that has been instrumental in shaping the sound of European heavy metal, from their Teutonic thrash-adjacent early work through to the critically acclaimed modern era spearheaded by vocalist Mark Tornillo.
Among the confirmed guest musicians are ANTHRAX bassist Frank Bello, whose aggressive playing style and thrash metal credentials make him a natural fit for ACCEPT's heavy sound, and legendary bassist Billy Sheehan, whose virtuosic technique has graced recordings by MR. BIG, DAVID LEE ROTH, and THE WINERY DOGS. The combination of these two bass heavyweights on an ACCEPT record promises some thunderous low-end performances. Additional guest names are expected to be announced in the coming weeks, with speculation running high about which other metal luminaries might appear.
Guitarist Wolf Hoffmann, whose neoclassical-influenced lead work has been ACCEPT's sonic signature since the band's earliest days, emphasized that the re-recordings will showcase how the band has evolved over five decades while honoring the essential DNA of their most beloved songs. "Not every band is lucky enough to be around for this long," Hoffmann reflected. "We want to celebrate that with our fans by giving these songs a new life with today's production standards and some incredible guest musicians."
The anniversary album complements ACCEPT's recently announced 24-date European tour with DYNAZTY and TAILGUNNER in support — the "Half A Century Of Metal" trek spanning 11 countries. Together, the album and tour represent a comprehensive celebration of one of heavy metal's most important and enduring bands, whose influence extends from the iconic "Balls To The Wall" through to their surprisingly vital modern output.
