New York death metal veterans IMMOLATION have shared the music video for "Adversary," the first single from their highly anticipated twelfth studio album "Descent," due April 10 via Nuclear Blast Records. The video, directed by guitarist Robert Vigna, presents the track's punishing intensity through stark, atmospheric visuals that complement the music's oppressive sonic weight.

IMMOLATION have been one of death metal's most consistent and respected acts since forming in Yonkers, New York in 1988. Alongside peers like INCANTATION, SUFFOCATION, and MORTICIAN, they are considered architects of the New York death metal sound — a style characterized by dissonant chord voicings, unpredictable tempo shifts, and an atmosphere of existential dread that sets it apart from the more straightforward brutality of Florida's death metal scene.

"Descent" was recorded at Jpass Music and Mercinary Studios with engineer Zack Ohren handling the critical mixing and mastering duties. Ohren's track record with extreme metal acts has made him one of the most sought-after engineers in the genre, and his involvement suggests a production quality that matches the band's ambitious artistic vision. Album artwork was crafted by Eliran Kantor, the Israeli-born artist whose paintings have graced covers for TESTAMENT, HELLOWEEN, KREATOR, and numerous other metal acts.

The 10-track album is being promoted alongside IMMOLATION's intensely busy touring schedule. The band is currently rampaging across Europe on the "Death Over Europe Tour" with MAYHEM and MARDUK, a triple bill of extreme metal royalty that has been drawing capacity crowds at every venue. Following the European run, IMMOLATION will join BEHEMOTH's "The Godless IV 2026 Tour," ensuring that "Adversary" and other new tracks will be thoroughly road-tested by the time "Descent" drops in April. The combination of a strong new single, an anticipated album, and relentless touring activity positions IMMOLATION for what could be their most high-profile year in recent memory.
