New York death metal veterans IMMOLATION have revealed the full tracklist for their twelfth studio album "Descent," due April 10 via Nuclear Blast Records. The ten-track opus features "These Vengeful Winds," "The Ephemeral Curse," "God's LAST BREATH," "Adversary," "Attrition," "Bend Towards The Dark," "Host," "False Ascent," "Banished," and the title track — a collection of song titles that immediately evokes the theological darkness and existential dread that has defined IMMOLATION's artistic vision since their formation in Yonkers, New York in 1986.
The album's visual identity has been entrusted to two accomplished artists. Eliran Kantor, whose portrait-style oil paintings have graced albums by TESTAMENT, KREATOR, ICED EARTH, and HATEBREED, crafted the cover artwork, while Santiago Jaramillo provided internal booklet illustrations. Kantor's involvement suggests a more painterly, classical approach to the album's visual presentation, fitting for a band whose music has always carried an almost ecclesiastical weight and grandeur.
"Descent" was produced collaboratively by the band with Zack Ohren, who also handled mixing and mastering duties. Ohren's track record with extreme metal acts — including SUFFOCATION, MACHINE HEAD, and CATTLE DECAPITATION — makes him well-suited to capture IMMOLATION's signature sound: the dissonant, swirling guitar interplay between Robert Vigna and Alex Bouks, the thunderous rhythmic foundation laid by drummer Steve Shalaty and bassist Ross Dolan, and Dolan's cavernous death growl that remains one of the genre's most recognizable voices.
IMMOLATION continue their "Death Over Europe Tour" alongside MAYHEM and MARDUK, building momentum for the album's spring release. The tracklist reveal has heightened anticipation for what promises to be one of 2026's most significant death metal releases from one of the genre's most consistently excellent practitioners.
