Sharon Osbourne has officially confirmed that Ozzfest will return in 2027, marking the first new edition of the legendary metal festival since its New Year's Eve 2018 edition in California. The announcement, made at the BRIT Awards 2026 ceremony in Manchester where she accepted a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award on behalf of her late husband Ozzy Osbourne, sent shockwaves through the metal community and confirmed months of speculation about the festival's future.

Sharon revealed concrete details about the revival: Ozzfest 2027 will begin with two days at Villa Park Stadium in Birmingham — Ozzy's hometown — before crossing the Atlantic for a North American edition. The choice of Birmingham is deeply symbolic, returning the festival to the city where both Ozzy Osbourne and BLACK SABBATH were born, and where the very foundations of heavy metal were laid in the late 1960s.

The festival, which was a transformative force in the late 1990s and 2000s, served as a launching pad for countless metal and hard rock bands. SLIPKNOT, SYSTEM OF A DOWN, DISTURBED, LAMB OF GOD, MASTODON, and dozens of other major acts got their earliest breaks playing Ozzfest stages. The festival also pioneered the touring festival format in North America, paving the way for events like Warped Tour, Mayhem Festival, and Knotfest.

Sharon emphasized that the revived Ozzfest would honor Ozzy's legacy by focusing on "a lot of new young talent, because that's what your dad would want," as she told her daughter Kelly during the BRIT Awards ceremony. She described the return as "something Ozzy was very passionate about: giving young talent a stage in front of a lot of people." While specific lineup details have not been revealed, the symbolic weight of Ozzfest returning in the wake of Ozzy's passing ensures that the 2027 edition will carry enormous emotional significance for the global metal community.
