Austrian symphonic metal act VISIONS OF ATLANTIS will release "Armada — An Orchestral Voyage" on February 6 via Napalm Records, presenting a fully orchestral reimagining of their commercially successful 2024 album "Pirates II — Armada." The ambitious project strips away the metal instrumentation entirely, replacing electric guitars, bass, and drums with a rich tapestry of orchestral instruments that reimagine the compositions in a cinematic light.

The album features a fascinating array of instrumentation: flute provides the melodic lead on several tracks, violin performances by Fabio Polo of ELVENKING add sweeping romantic passages, and the ancient Armenian Duduk — a double-reed woodwind instrument with a hauntingly mournful tone — contributes an unexpected layer of world music flavor. The result is something entirely distinct from the typical "orchestral version" addendum that many metal bands append to their releases.

The original "Pirates II — Armada" achieved Top 5 chart positions in Germany and Austria, establishing VISIONS OF ATLANTIS as one of the most commercially viable symphonic metal acts in the German-speaking world. Led by vocalist Cleo Mihai Teianu, the band has steadily climbed the ranks with their pirate-themed aesthetic and grandiose compositions that blend symphonic metal with folk and power metal elements.

The 12-track instrumental voyage transforms power metal anthems into cinematic orchestral pieces, offering fans a completely new perspective on familiar compositions. For listeners who appreciated the melodic architecture of the original songs but found the metal production overwhelming, this version provides an accessible entry point. Conversely, metal fans can appreciate the structural sophistication of the songwriting when stripped to its harmonic essentials.
