MONSTROSITY — one of the cornerstones of Florida death metal since the early 1990s — are ending a seven-year recording silence with Screams From Beneath The Surface, out this Friday March 13 via Metal Blade Records. For a band that gave the genre some of its most technically accomplished albums (Imperial Doom, In Dark Purity), the return is long overdue.
The new lineup is built around founding drummer and primary songwriter Lee Harrison alongside longtime guitarist Matt Barnes, returning original bassist Mark Van Erp, and new vocalist Ed Webb (ex-Massacre). Recording took place across two storied studios: drums, bass, and mixing at Audiohammer with producer Jason Suecof; vocals, guitars, and mastering at Morrisound with Jim Morris.
The ten-track album has been previewed through singles "Banished to the Skies" and "The Atrophied." Early reviews describe it as a ferocious reaffirmation of the band's classic sound rather than a reinvention.
