Seven years after The Passage of Existence, MONSTROSITY are back. Screams From Beneath The Surface is out today on Metal Blade Records, and first reactions from critics and fans suggest the wait was more than justified.
The ten-track album presents a band firing on all cylinders, anchored by the precision drumming of founder Lee Harrison and powered by the vocal ferocity of new frontman Ed Webb (ex-Massacre). Original bassist Mark Van Erp's return gives the rhythm section a locked-in weight that fans of the band's classic period will immediately recognize.
Standout tracks cited in early reactions include "Banished to the Skies," "The Atrophied," and "Fortunes Engraved in Blood." Recording across both Audiohammer (with Jason Suecof) and Morrisound (with Jim Morris) gave the album a dual-studio depth unusual even by death metal standards.
