THE 69 EYES, the Helsinki goth rock institution active since 1989, have announced a new EP titled I Survive, set for release on June 5, 2026, through their BLKIIBLK label imprint. The EP features original material alongside a cover of THIN LIZZY's "Cold Sweat."
The choice of "Cold Sweat" is a natural fit. THIN LIZZY's catalogue — rooted in Celtic rock, blues, and a poetic approach to hard rock songwriting — shares a romantic energy with THE 69 EYES' own distinctive blend of glam, goth, and gothic rock. The cover is expected to lean into the original's swaggering, bluesy momentum.
THE 69 EYES have maintained a remarkably consistent output since their formation, evolving from early glam punk toward the dark, atmospheric rock that defined albums like Paris Kills and Angels. Frontman Jyrki 69 has become one of the most recognisable figures in European goth rock, and the band's dedicated following spans multiple generations of dark rock listeners.
I Survive follows the band's 2023 album Death of Darkness and continues their pattern of interspersing full-length records with shorter releases that capture a more immediate energy.
Pre-orders and full tracklisting for the EP will be announced via the band's official channels in the coming days. Physical editions including limited vinyl are expected.
