ANGUS McSIX — the power metal project fronted by Thomas Winkler following his high-profile departure from Gloryhammer — released its debut full-length ANGUS McSIX and the All-Seeing Astral Eye on March 13. The album continues the flamboyant sci-fi and fantasy power metal tradition Winkler helped establish during his tenure with Gloryhammer, with the band doubling down on theatrical and absurdist elements of the genre.
The project was formed after Winkler's split with Gloryhammer in 2022, which generated significant online controversy. ANGUS McSIX has since built a dedicated fanbase through live performances and a 2023 debut EP. The full-length was one of the week's most anticipated power metal releases.
