ARCH ENEMY's Alissa White-Gluz Announces New Solo Project "Artemisia"

ARCH ENEMY vocalist Alissa White-Gluz has announced a new solo project under the name "Artemisia," with a debut album scheduled for September 2026 via Nuclear Blast Records. The announcement, made alongside a striking promotional video featuring White-Gluz in elaborate costume against a stylized forest backdrop, confirms long-standing rumors that the Canadian-Swedish vocalist has been working on independent material for several years.

Artemisia is described as "a completely different artistic context" from ARCH ENEMY, incorporating elements of classical music, electronica, theatrical pop, and extreme metal in a way that reflects White-Gluz's diverse musical background before joining ARCH ENEMY in 2014. Producer Gary Numan collaborator Ade Fenton, known for his work on Numan's late-career albums including "Splinter" (2013) and "Savage" (2017), is handling production duties — a choice that signals a significantly more electronic and atmospheric direction than ARCH ENEMY's melodic death metal.

White-Gluz was quick to clarify that Artemisia is a side project rather than an indication of any issues within ARCH ENEMY, which she described as "my musical home and my primary commitment." Michael Amott, ARCH ENEMY's founder and primary guitarist, issued a brief statement of support, calling the project "a natural and exciting extension of everything Alissa has to offer as an artist." The debut Artemisia single "Blossom and Burn" will be released on April 5, alongside a full music video directed by Swedish director Patrik Ullaeus, who has previously worked with EPICA, DIMMU BORGIR, and IN FLAMES.
