DEVIN TOWNSEND officially unveiled The Moth — his long-gestating magnum opus, first teased publicly over a decade ago — with a May 29 release date via InsideOut Music and a bombastic lead single, "Enter the City." The orchestral progressive metal album has been described by Townsend as the culmination of his entire career, featuring multiple choirs and orchestras recorded across the globe alongside Steve Vai, Mike Keneally, and Anneke van Giersbergen.

The Moth spans 24 tracks across a deluxe three-CD set: the main album, The Moth – The Afterlife (an orchestral/choral expansion), and The Moth – The War (a live recording from the album's March 2025 world premiere in the Netherlands). The album tells a story of personal transformation and self-acceptance.

"This has been the most ambitious, most terrifying, and most important thing I've ever done," Townsend told Louder Sound. "It took this long because it needed to take this long." The announcement generated significant coverage across all major metal publications and mainstream music press.
