KORN: Jonathan Davis on "Untreated" Recording Sessions in 2026

KORN frontman Jonathan Davis has given an extensive interview to Rolling Stone in which he describes the band's current recording approach for their next studio album — one he has nicknamed "Untreated" in reference to the deliberately raw and unprocessed emotional energy the band is channeling into the sessions. The interview, the first major press Davis has given since KORN's 2023 album "Requiem" and its accompanying tour, reveals a creative process that Davis describes as the most psychologically intense and cathartic of his career.

"We went in with no plan, no concept, no safety net," Davis told Rolling Stone. "Usually we go in with a loose framework and we build from there. This time, we started with nothing and let whatever was real in that room come out. Some of it is the heaviest thing we've ever done. Some of it is stranger than anything on 'Issues' or 'Follow the Leader.'" Davis confirmed that the sessions are taking place at KORN's longtime studio facility in Bakersfield, California, with producer Brian Bright handling technical duties while leaving creative decisions entirely to the band.

Guitarist Brian "Head" Welch also contributed to the interview, describing a new level of creative unity within KORN that he attributes to all five members having addressed personal challenges through various forms of recovery and spiritual work. "There's no ego in the room right now," Welch said. "We're just making music that matters to us, without worrying about what it is or what box it fits in." A release date has not been confirmed, but industry sources suggest late 2026 is the target, with a world tour to follow.
