Dave Mustaine: MEGADETH Farewell Tour Could Easily Run Three to Five Years

DAVE MUSTAINE addressed skepticism about MEGADETH's "farewell" announcement in multiple interviews, acknowledging the paradox of a farewell tour projected to last three to five years. "Most bands don't get to go out on their own terms on top, and that's where I'm at in my life right now," he stated. Mustaine also firmly ruled out any guest appearances from former MEGADETH members, dismissing the idea as "puppet show MEGADETH."

The farewell tour, "This Was Our Life," opens April 23 in support of the band's self-titled final album — their first ever No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Mustaine cited persistent hand pain as the primary driver of the retirement decision.
