MELVINS and NAPALM DEATH have announced a full collaborative studio album, Savage Imperial Death March, due April 10, 2026 via Ipecac Recordings — emphatically not a split record but a genuine co-written, co-produced full-length. The album was recorded at The MELVINS' Los Angeles studio and features BUZZ OSBORNE (vocals/guitar) and DALE CROVER (drums) from MELVINS alongside NAPALM DEATH's BARNEY GREENWAY (vocals), SHANE EMBURY (bass), and JOHN COOKE (guitar).
The eight-track record is characteristically unhinged, bulldozing grindcore riffs against MELVINS' signature sludge lurch, with GREENWAY and OSBORNE trading and overlapping vocal duties throughout. Tracklist: "Tossing Coins Into The Fountain Of Fuck," "Some Kind Of Antichrist," "Awful Handwriting," "Nine Days Of Rain," "Rip The God," "Stealing Horses," "Comparison Is The Thief Of Joy," and "Death Hour."
The title echoes the two bands' co-headlining tour series from 2016 and 2025, but Savage Imperial Death March marks their first proper studio full-length under that banner. The album will be available on CD, all major digital platforms, and four limited-edition vinyl variants through the Ipecac webstore. A shared statement from both camps reads simply: "We wanted to make the ugliest, most honest music possible. Mission accomplished." A North American tour to support the record is expected to be announced shortly.
