OPETH have concluded "The Last Will And Testament North American Tour Part 2" with a triumphant final show in Vancouver on February 25, bringing to a close one of the most critically acclaimed concert tours of early 2026. The 15-date run with KATATONIA as support drew consistently strong crowds across the continent, with multiple shows selling out and demonstrating that progressive metal's appeal continues to grow.

Reviews highlighted OPETH's extended setlists featuring deep cuts from their vast catalog alongside material from their 2024 album "The Last Will and Testament." The record marked a momentous return to death metal vocals for frontman Mikael Akerfeldt, who had abandoned growling for over a decade, and hearing those passages performed live added a visceral dimension that elevated the entire concert experience. Akerfeldt's dual vocal approach — shifting seamlessly between clean singing and guttural death metal roars — reminded audiences why he remains one of the most versatile and respected vocalists in metal.

KATATONIA impressed as openers with their atmospheric and emotionally resonant performances, drawing from across their extensive discography. The Swedish melancholic metal outfit, led by vocalist Jonas Renkse and guitarist Anders Nystrom, provided a perfect complement to OPETH's more complex and progressive material. The two bands share deep roots in the Swedish metal scene — Akerfeldt and Renkse have been close friends and collaborators since the early 1990s — and that chemistry translated into a cohesive and satisfying evening for fans of both acts.

Both bands are confirmed for European festival appearances this summer, including Hellfest in France and Graspop Metal Meeting in Belgium, where they will bring these expanded setlists to even larger audiences.
