SEPULTURA have officially confirmed that their final concert performance will take place at Rock in Rio in Brazil on October 3, 2026 — marking the end of a four-decade journey that took a band from Belo Horizonte's underground metal scene to global recognition as one of the most important and influential heavy bands in history. Rock in Rio, one of the largest music festivals in the world with attendance typically exceeding 100,000 per day, is the appropriate setting for the emotional conclusion of SEPULTURA's story — a band that embodies the pride and identity of Brazilian metal on the world stage.

The final show announcement was made jointly by the band and Rock in Rio festival organizers, with festival director Roberto Medina calling the booking "an honor and a responsibility that we take with enormous seriousness." SEPULTURA's set is expected to run for nearly two hours and will feature a career-spanning selection that includes songs from "Morbid Visions" (1986), "Beneath the Remains" (1989), "Arise" (1991), "Chaos A.D." (1993), "Roots" (1996), and selected highlights from their later catalog.

Original vocalist Max Cavalera, who has maintained his own successful career with SOULFLY and various Cavalera Brothers projects since his acrimonious departure from SEPULTURA in 1996, has not been confirmed for the final show, and the band's management has declined to comment on the possibility. However, Rock in Rio sources speaking anonymously to Brazilian music press have suggested that "significant surprise guests" are expected. A live recording of the final show will be released in multiple formats following the performance.
