Former W.A.S.P. guitarist CHRIS HOLMES has announced the cancellation of his United Kingdom and Scandinavia tour scheduled for May 2026, citing unspecified health issues requiring immediate medical attention. The cancellations affect shows through July, while dates beyond that timeframe remain unaffected.
HOLMES and his wife and manager CATHERINE HOLMES issued a brief but sobering statement: "Due to health issues that require immediate attention, we must unfortunately cancel the May tour. We will keep you updated as soon as we have more information."
The 67-year-old guitarist's health concerns carry additional weight given his medical history. HOLMES was diagnosed with throat and neck cancer in February 2022 — a devastating blow for the veteran metal axeman. He subsequently underwent seven weeks of grueling radiation therapy and was later declared cancer-free, returning to the stage with determination and gratitude.
CHRIS HOLMES is best known for his long tenure as lead guitarist in W.A.S.P., the quintessential 1980s shock-metal act fronted by BLACKIE LAWLESS. HOLMES first joined W.A.S.P. in 1982, remained until 1990, returned in 1996, and departed again in 2001. The band's self-titled debut album and The Last Command remain milestones of American heavy metal.
HOLMES and his management have promised further updates on his condition and possible rescheduling of the cancelled dates. Ticketholders for affected shows should contact their point of purchase for refund information.
