DREAM THEATER guitarist John Petrucci has opened up about the band's ongoing "An Evening With Dream Theater" tour, calling performing their 16th studio album Parasomnia in its entirety each night "a blast" — though he cheekily admitted it "might be a little self-indulgent."
The current tour reunites the classic lineup: James LaBrie (vocals), John Myung (bass), Jordan Rudess (keyboards), Mike Portnoy (drums, back since October 2023), and Petrucci. Each night they perform Parasomnia in full, followed by the entire seven-movement epic "A Change Of Seasons," plus further catalog classics and fan favorites.
Fan reaction, according to Petrucci, has been overwhelming: "We just played Friday night in Mexico City to a big, big arena crowd, and we opened that show with the 'Parasomnia' album. It's essentially all new music, and the fan reaction was incredible. It was over the top. Very, very cool feeling."
DREAM THEATER has also announced that their April 22, 2026 concert at Movistar Arena in Santiago, Chile will be professionally recorded and filmed for a future Blu-ray release. Petrucci spoke candidly about the filming pressure: "The best thing is if it doesn't shift at all. You have to approach it like it's just another show. Don't get too worked up about it." He laughed, noting that illness seems to strike right before important recordings — including the legendary Score DVD filmed at Radio City Music Hall.
The "An Evening With Dream Theater" tour continues across South America before returning to further markets later in 2026.
