Dan Swanö has completed the archival puzzle. 'Elegy – Chapter II', the final chapter in the comprehensive reissue campaign for Swedish melodic death metal pioneers EDGE OF SANITY, arrives April 3 via Century Media Records. It is the most expansive excavation of the band's vault yet: 37 tracks on a limited 2CD edition, gathering previously unreleased pre-production demos, remixes, rehearsal cuts, live recordings, alternate versions, and bonus tracks spanning the band's entire active period from 1990 to 2003.
The release includes previously unreleased remixes of "Black Tears" and "Blood Colored," 2024 remixes of "Murder. Dividead" and "I Wanna Go Home," and pre-production material for 'The Spectral Sorrows' album transferred from original masters at 96kHz/24-bit for maximum fidelity. Cover art comes from Mark Rudolph, whose work graces releases from CARCASS and UNDEATH.
EDGE OF SANITY — primarily the solo project of Swanö throughout much of their discography — produced some of the most influential melodic death metal of the early-to-mid 1990s. Albums like 'Unorthodox', 'The Spectral Sorrows', and the sprawling one-track epic 'Crimson' remain essential listening for anyone serious about the genre.
The 2LP vinyl edition features 19 tracks on 180g black vinyl; the digital album also carries the same 19-track selection. The deluxe 2CD with O-card is the definitive version for completists.
'Elegy – Chapter II' is out April 3 via Century Media Records.
