WAILIN STORMS have signed to Season of Mist and are preparing to release their fifth studio album — title and release date to be announced soon.

The band was founded by Justin Storms in his hometown of Corpus Christi, Texas, the son of a church pianist and Baptist preacher. After a stint in New York City, the four-piece settled in Durham, North Carolina, where they built a fierce following with their combustible blend of Southern gothic rock: raw-boned blues punk, the gothic country of 16 Horsepower, and the howling intensity of Nick Cave — all, as the band puts it, "fed by the bones of a dead god."

The new album was recorded entirely in analog by Matt Talbott of HUM. Vocalist Justin Storms describes it as being "forged in the fires of love, death, fear, anxiety and other pangs of the heart," drawing on blues, folk, punk and metal, with artistic touchstones ranging from René Magritte and Flannery O'Connor to David Lynch and a childhood obsession with fire. A first teaser has been shared on the Season of Mist YouTube channel.

Across four albums to date, WAILIN STORMS have earned high praise from NPR, Brooklyn Vegan, Metal Hammer and Decibel, where their previous record "The Silver Snake Unfolds" was described as proof that "their music is heavy, their lyrics haunting, and their live show furious." The band recently shared stages with ACID BATH, EYEHATEGOD and BLACK TUSK.

"With Season of Mist's backing, we are excited to bring its dark and fiery message to a wider audience across the international stage," Storms says.
