Guitarist Andy La Rocque has revealed fresh details about the long-awaited KING DIAMOND album, tentatively titled "Saint Lucifer's Hospital 1920" — a horror concept record that has been in development for several years.
In a new interview with Rock Daydream Nation, La Rocque explained that he submitted eight pre-production songs to the band back in 2022, complete with demo recordings and keyboard contributions from collaborator Roberto Falcao. The band ultimately selected three of those compositions for inclusion on the record.
Currently, the main holdout is King Diamond himself, who is working on five or six original songs. "We're waiting for King Diamond to finish his part of it, which is gonna be, like, five or six songs on the album," La Rocque confirmed.
King Diamond has previously revealed finished track titles including "Spider Lilly," "Lobotomy," "The Institute," "The Nun," "Faceless," and an intro piece called "Under The Surface" — painting a vivid picture of the album's dark gothic hospital setting.
In a March interview with the Pod Scum podcast, La Rocque expressed cautious optimism about a 2026 release, suggesting a summer recording window with hopes for a year-end launch. KING DIAMOND fans, who have been waiting since the band's last album "Give Me Your Soul… Please" in 2007, may finally be nearing the end of their long wait.
