Texas-based doom metal legends SOLITUDE AETURNUS have parted ways with longtime vocalist Robert Lowe, the band announced on April 28, 2026. The group, which resumed active performances in 2024 after a period of inactivity, stated the decision reflects what they believe is necessary for the band's future.

In an official statement, band members John Perez (guitar), Edgar Rivera (guitar), Lyle Steadham (bass), and Logan Cade (drums) explained: "After much consideration, the band has decided to part ways with vocalist Robert Lowe," adding that the split represents "a necessary change if we are to move forward as an active band." They also extended their gratitude to Lowe for his years of contributions.

No permanent replacement has been announced yet. However, the band has enlisted fellow Texan Jason McMaster as guest vocalist for their performance at Maryland Deathfest on May 21. McMaster is a respected veteran of the Texas metal scene, best known as the original vocalist of WATCHTOWER, with prior tenures in DANGEROUS TOYS, IGNITOR, SA SLAYER, ACCEPT, and ARMORED SAINT.

SOLITUDE AETURNUS formed in 1987 and carved their name into doom metal history through albums such as "Into The Depths Of Sorrow" (1991) and "Through The Darkest Hour" (1994). Their most recent album, "Alone," was released in 2006.

The lineup change raises questions about the band's future direction, but the confirmed Maryland Deathfest appearance signals their intention to continue as an active force.
