One of German power metal's most beloved exports is coming back to the stage. EDGUY have announced their first live performance in a decade: a hometown show in Fulda, Germany on June 25, 2027.
For frontman Tobias Sammet — who has spent the intervening years steering his all-star AVANTASIA project to ever-greater heights — the reunion is framed as a kind of farewell-flavored homecoming. "Some stories deserve a final chapter," Sammet said. "Let's write ours together."
The show will reunite the classic EDGUY lineup of Sammet, guitarists Jens Ludwig and Dirk Sauer, bassist Tobias "Eggi" Exxel and drummer Felix Bohnke. The band has been effectively dormant since 2014's "Space Police - Defenders Of The Crown," their last album of original material, with members drifting toward separate musical and professional paths.
Sammet has been candid about why EDGUY went quiet. In March 2025 he described creative disagreements that drained the band's energy, contrasting the friction with the relative ease of AVANTASIA, where he could produce an album in two months rather than spend months debating the key of a single song. That honesty makes the 2027 reunion all the sweeter — a band choosing to come together on its own terms, in its own city, for what may be a singular celebration of a shared history.
Founded in Fulda in the 1990s, EDGUY helped define melodic European power metal alongside the likes of HELLOWEEN and GAMMA RAY, mixing soaring choruses with a sense of humor too rarely found in the genre.
