SEVENDUST drummer Morgan Rose says the band is riding the biggest wave of its nearly three-decade career, crediting a surprise viral moment for turning its spring 2026 U.S. tour into the most successful run the group has ever had.
In an interview with George Dionne of KNAC.com, Rose said the surge began during SEVENDUST's first-ever full European tour in January, a market the band had largely written off after past bad experiences with promoters. "We fell in love with it, and the people there were super receptive," Rose said. That momentum carried into the band's U.S. run this spring with ATREYU, FIRE FROM THE GODS and AMERICAN ADRENALINE, where Rose said he was struck by how many young fans, including children, were suddenly showing up at shows. Guitarist John Connolly's research turned up the reason: older SEVENDUST songs "Denial" and "Rumble Fish" had gone viral on social media. "This, quote-unquote, nu metal stuff came back around, so the tour just went bananas," Rose said, name-checking KORN, DEFTONES and SYSTEM OF A DOWN as fellow beneficiaries of the genre's renewed popularity. His manager later confirmed it was the band's best-selling tour yet, both in tickets and merchandise.
Asked whether SEVENDUST, now 15 albums into its catalog, still has an appetite for new music, Rose said the band writes because its members can't help themselves, given how many side projects and production jobs keep them constantly creating. He acknowledged some fans just want to hear the hits, but said new songs have kept landing regardless. "We're not really a legacy band yet. So I guess we'll keep making 'em," he said.
SEVENDUST and THEORY OF A DEADMAN will co-headline "The Dead / Seven Tour," a 36-date trek launching August 7 in Duluth, Minnesota and running through September 29 in Bozeman, Montana, with stops including Detroit, Atlanta and Riverside, California. The band continues touring behind its 15th studio album, "One," released May 1 and produced by Michael "Elvis" Baskette.
