On March 30, 1990, FORBIDDEN released their second studio album "Twisted Into Form" through Combat Records — one of the greatest technical thrash metal albums ever recorded. Produced by Neil Kernon, the album represented a quantum leap in sophistication from their already impressive debut "Forbidden Evil." Guitarist Craig Locicero and Tim Calvert crafted riffs of breathtaking complexity, weaving intricate melodic passages with crushing thrash metal aggression, while Russ Anderson's soaring, operatic vocal delivery set FORBIDDEN apart from every other Bay Area band. Tracks like "Infinite," "R.I.P.," and "Step by Step" demonstrated a level of musical ambition that rivaled WATCHTOWER and early VOIVOD. "Twisted Into Form" is frequently cited alongside METALLICA's "...And Justice for All" and MEGADETH's "Rust in Peace" as the pinnacle of technical thrash. Despite its brilliance, commercial success eluded FORBIDDEN, making this album one of thrash metal's great overlooked masterpieces.
