The name Sarah Jezebel Deva is firmly associated with Cradle Of Filth and Therion, where her vocals offset Dani Filth's aggression and added color to Christofer Johnsson's creations. In 2001, our heroine decided to form her own band — and thus Angtoria was born. According to encyclopedias, the band's style was initially defined as an orchestral project creating music in the vein of atmospheric film soundtracks. However, not a single album was recorded in that style. When one finally materialized, it turned out that the music had mutated into a symphonic metal project with distinct allusions to the gothic elements of leading Dutch bands AFTER FOREVER and Epica. Sarah's voice here doesn't venture into the operatic depths familiar from her previous work, but instead presents a simply soft and very beautiful female vocal. The result is a fairly lightweight effort (despite the rather dark booklet artwork), moderately symphonic and sufficiently beautiful, in which the standout is an unbelievably gorgeous ballad, "That's What The Wise Lady Said." Alongside Sarah, the album features contributions from the likes of Chris Rehn (ex-Evergrey) and Dave Pybus (Cradle of Filth), and it was recorded at Sidelake Studios in Sundsvall. The disc is recommended for fans of the "beauty without the beast" style, and of course for devoted admirers of Sarah's talent.
