The new fourth album from the Finnish Tolkienists didn't exactly blow my mind. I more or less expected something like this from them — a solid, quality effort that doesn't lack originality or hitmaking flair.
There isn't much to say about the musical and lyrical content; you won't find any fundamental differences from their previous releases.
As always, the Finns have no shortage of memorable melodies, and catchy compositions on Evernight are far from rare.
Everything is fine. But what was once called originality is now beginning to border on self-plagiarism.
One more album like this and questions will start being raised about BATTLELORE.
For now, though, it's a solid four out of five.
