CAPHARNAUM

Multi-layered, fractured death metal performed by CAPHARNAUM is music beyond categories. It is too brutal to appeal to academics, and too academic to satisfy the brutal hunger of metalheads. Aimed at fulfilling the strange needs of a brigade of highbrow physicists and unhinged aesthetes, the sonic fabric of "Fractured" sprouts near-jazz solos, numerous rhythmic breaks, and tempo changes. CAPHARNAUM are not as original as DEATH, and they are far from the brutal inspiration of PHLEBOTOMIZED. At the same time, one cannot fault the musicians for lack of skill or a careless approach to recording. In that regard, it's all positives. A recommendation: listen to "Fractured" with a half-plugged mini-jack, in mono. That way the record acquires new, otherworldly dimensions and will most likely appeal to fans of post-metal directions.
