It is commonly believed that when it comes to music, Norway has nothing to offer besides black metal and A-HA, but the brave lads from the commando unit CHTON prove otherwise. There is not a whiff of black metal here. Despite the fact that some members previously played in black metal outfits, what we get here is exclusively juicy brutal death metal with a somewhat raw sound — which does not damage the album in the least but rather lends it the pleasant aroma of a natural meat product, exactly the kind that true brutal should have. Additional charm to this creation of the deathly arts is contributed by the vocalist, who produces sounds reminiscent of a wounded cyborg.
The material has its rough edges and shortcomings, but at the very least, this release stands out from the ranks of underground brutal acts. And that is not a bad thing if a band has found its own identity.
