Just recently, a thread appeared on our forum asking: "What style should be promoted on the Ukrainian metal scene?" Among the standard answers like "black," "death," and so on, a sensible thought emerged — that we should develop our native folk. And then, as if by magic, the debut disc of what appears to be a one-man project (I don't think that will last) called CHUR landed in my hands. Truly, we still have talented people! The work is not merely good — it is magnificent! It successfully combines traditional Ukrainian melodies with sufficiently heavy music. And most importantly, everything sounds very harmonious. You won't find aggressive marches or the like here — after all, such things probably don't even exist in authentic Ukrainian folk — but the music, together with the excellent and aptly placed vocals, truly tugs at the soul. I wholeheartedly recommend this to everyone, and I hope I was present at the birth of a new folk star. Just a bit more experience, and everything will be perfect.
P.S. The track "Three Roads" was stuck in my head for probably a week.
