Despite the objective commercial superiority of the Gothenburg scene, real death metal — without the "melodic" prefix — continues to thrive in Sweden, and that characteristic buzzing tone still attracts plenty of people. GRAVE can rightfully be considered among the fathers of Swedish death metal as a movement, alongside such bands as UNLEASHED, DISMEMBER, ENTOMBED, and HYPOCRISY. In 2006 they released "As Rapture Comes," after which a DVD was recorded during their tour — this was done in Warsaw. It's worth noting that in recent years, death metal bands have been very fond of filming their concert videos in the Polish capital. Let's also note that on this tour GRAVE performed as a quartet: alongside bassist Fredrik Isaksson and the band's unwavering leader, the towering Ola Lindgren, we see Pelle Ekegren behind the drum kit, while Jonas Torndal handles the second guitar. The setlist is very interesting — from the latest album the band plays only three songs, three more from the two preceding albums, and the band concentrates on their first era of existence, that is, pre-1996. Ten songs played at the concert come from those early years. For dessert, there's the truly unique track "Reborn Miscarriage," which exists only on the band's 1991 demo recording. As for the performance itself — there is something fantastically precise about GRAVE's show, a clarity and almost mathematical accuracy in everything. While being fairly static on stage, the musicians lose nothing in terms of showmanship — this applies above all to Lindgren. This arguably tallest Swedish musician, so fond of performing in blue jeans, is a tremendous frontman, even if unsmiling and utterly devoid of the recklessness typical of many of his peers.
The disc includes several bonus videos, a fascinating interview — and it should be noted that Lindgren speaks very easily understood English — as well as a biography, the band's discography, a photo gallery, and several other extras.
